Buzz Words

This Blog is to help the unitiated into the world of "Revival" jargon that will appear through out this site.  Ask if you don't understand what we mean, also feel free to add more buzz words if you have them.

To get started here's a few:

Kingdom of God(Heaven) - Term referenced numerous time by Jesus and the apostles through out the New Testiment.  It is in reference to the sovereign "container" in which God the Father resides.  There is no sickness, disease, discord, or hate that exists in this realm.  Signs of this kingdom are: personally - righteousness, peace, and joy.  corporately - sick healed, those lost found, forgiveness for lawlessness, and raising the dead.

Revival - Literal meaning to awake what was dead.  Through Jesus Christ the death found in mankind can be reversed. This is more than just a prayer for salvation, for after salvation comes sanctification(work God does in you), essentially the Kingdom of God invading your life.  When this occurs and inward changes radically affect outward actions, so that when shared with others similars actions take place would be considered revival.

Salvation - The action of being saved.  Jesus lived as God among men, and allowed himself to be made a sacrifice for all time.  God's has no desire to punish or judge mankind, his desire is all might be saved.  Jesus' sacrifice for mankind is a type of peace offering to men, that when we as men will accept Jesus as a sacrifice for our lives, we make our peace with God and are adopted and made children of God and have rights to live in the Kingdom of God.  This process is what is know as salvation.

Drunk in the Spirit - Slang word used to describe the elation, joy and tremendous peace that can enrapture people when the Kingdom of God come to earth.  Basic idea comes from Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit falls on the 120 in the upper room and a lot of hecklers gather and begin saying they must be drunk.

Delieverance - Means salvation.  Usually refered to in terms of demonic possesion.  Basically every man is like a house and various spirits may live inside.  If the spirits are not of God, they mostly make life miserable.  When we accept the salvation that Jesus has for us, if we are willing he will come and clean out our "House" and fill us with his Holy Spirit.  This will turn the most mundane of lives into adventure.

Manifestations - Evidence of something super-natural taking place in ones life.  Three sources - God, the devil, or you.  Manifestations of God have been one of the biggest controversies in the church in years.  Many of people tend to lump all manifestations as of the devil, ultimately though you have to look at the outcome of the manifesties' life to determine if its of God.  Various type: Drunk in the spirit, laughter, shaking, roaring, and other odd sounds and movements.  We have seen slithering like snakes and levitation but generally that is not attributed to God and command it to stop in Jesus name and it does.

Sin - Acts of criminalty or lawlessness.  Can be done against the government, God, or personal relationships.  One who practices this is known as a sinner.

Soaking - also know as "pressing in."  Usually a quiet contemplative time with soft music condusive to spending time with God.  A time many visions or visitations may take place with God.

Sparking - When the Fire of God in you inadvertantly causes some one to pause near you(for any list of reasons), to such a degree if you watching for it to happen are prepared you may begin sharing Christ in a fairly casual conversation.  Usually a good time for prophetic insight Lord willing.

Trips to (3rd) Heaven - Visions or visitations in which the viewer goes up to heaven and is given revelation.  Almost always impowers the viewer to a deeper commitment with Lord.  Paul speaks of it in 2nd Corinthians 12.  May occur during times of soaking.
